JennAir refrigerators use EveryDrop water filters, Whirlpool's filter brand, and which one yours takes depends on the model. Interior filters sit in the upper right of the fresh-food compartment on French-door models, built-in bottom-freezer and side-by-side models use a filter behind the base grille, and column refrigerators hold the filter at the upper left. Replace the filter every six months or 200 gallons, flush the new one, and reset the filter light.

Your JennAir refrigerator's water filter depends on the specific model, and even refrigerators of the same style can take different EveryDrop filters. Confirm your filter number first, because it decides where the filter sits and how it comes out.
JennAir says you can find your water filter number in three places: the Accessories section of your owner's manual, the side of the old filter, or the everydrop Filter Finder. The everydrop Filter Finder lets you search by your refrigerator's model number. For a full breakdown of the numbering system, see which EveryDrop filter you need.
JennAir's own model spec tables show which EveryDrop filter each refrigerator uses, and the table below lists five verified examples across French-door, built-in and column styles. Note that the two RISE 36-inch French-door models use different filters, so always check your exact model.

Every EveryDrop filter used in JennAir refrigerators is tested to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 and CSA 483.1, according to JennAir. The number of contaminants each filter reduces varies by filter number, as listed on jennair.com and everydropwater.com.

A JennAir water filter is in one of three places: inside the upper right of French-door models, behind the base grille on built-in models, or at the upper left of column refrigerators. Your filter number and model style tell you which.
On JennAir French-door refrigerators with an interior filter, the water filter sits in the upper right of the fresh-food compartment behind a PUSH or PULL cover. The cover label tells you how it opens. Once the cover is open, the filter is visible and twists out.
JennAir built-in bottom-freezer and side-by-side refrigerators use an exterior water filter located behind the base grille. JennAir lists these filters as "exterior" in its spec tables. The visible end of the filter carries a decorative cap that you move to the new filter.
On JennAir column refrigerators, the water filter is in the upper left, above the refrigerator or freezer compartment, behind a filter door you push up. Like grille filters, column filters carry a decorative cap that transfers to the new filter.
How you replace a JennAir water filter depends on its location: interior filters rotate out, grille filters use a quarter-turn or push-button release, and column filters turn 90 degrees. Grille and column filters also need their decorative cap moved to the new filter.
Before you replace a JennAir water filter, have a towel and the unwrapped new filter ready.
Keep a towel nearby to catch drips when the old filter comes out.
Unwrap the new filter before you remove the old one.
On grille and column filters, keep the decorative cap, because you'll reuse it.
To replace an interior JennAir water filter, open the cover, remove the old filter, and rotate the new one clockwise until it stops, per everydrop's instructions.
Open the cover. Push the tab in and down, or pull the cover, depending on whether it's marked PUSH or PULL.
Remove the old filter. Turn it out of the housing.
Insert the new filter. Rotate it clockwise until it stops.
Close the cover. Snap it shut.
JennAir base-grille filters come in two release types, quarter-turn and push-button, and both need the decorative cap moved to the new filter.
Quarter-turn type: turn the cap counterclockwise until it is vertical, pull the filter out, slide the cap off, and fit it to the new filter before inserting it.
Push-button type: press the eject button and pull the filter straight out without twisting, turn the cap counterclockwise to move it to the new filter, then push the new filter in until the button pops back out.
To replace a JennAir column refrigerator water filter, turn it 90° counterclockwise to remove it, move the cap, and turn the new filter 90° clockwise until the arrows align.
Open the filter door. Push the door up.
Remove the old filter. Turn it 90° counterclockwise and pull it out.
Move the cap. Transfer the decorative cap to the new filter, aligning its grooves with the ribs.
Install the new filter. Insert it and turn it 90° clockwise until the arrows align.

After replacing a JennAir water filter, flush the new filter by dispensing water until the flow is steady, then reset the filter light. Flushing clears air and loose carbon from the new filter.
JennAir says to flush a new filter by dispensing water 5 seconds on and 5 seconds off until the flow is steady, then running at least 1 to 4 gallons depending on the filter. The exact amount is printed on your filter's packaging, which is the figure to follow.

What to do |
|

Dispense 5 s on, 5 s off until the flow is steady, then at least 1–4 gallons (check the packaging) |
|
Water isn't cold yet |
Allow 24 hours for the water to chill |

No water dispenser |
Make and discard 3 containers of ice |

Follow the amount on the filter packaging |
To reset the JennAir water filter light, hold the Filter Reset button for 3 seconds until the Replace Filter indicator turns off. This is JennAir's procedure for column refrigerators. Keep in mind that resetting the light only restarts the reminder; it doesn't clean or extend the life of the filter.
Replace a JennAir water filter every six months or every 200 gallons, when the indicator comes on, or sooner if the water flow drops. Most problems after a change come from a filter that isn't fully seated or a light that wasn't reset.
JennAir recommends replacing the water filter every six months, when the indicator light comes on, or sooner if flow slows. The EveryDrop filter light turns on after 200 gallons. Unused EveryDrop filters don't expire, so a spare stored in the box is still good to use. For more on filter lifespan, read how long fridge filters really last.
If a JennAir water filter is stuck, grip the cap with a cloth, or on push-button models hold the eject button or remove the grille, and never force it. If the filter is clogged and you don't have a replacement yet, JennAir says you can leave it out so the system runs in bypass mode. If your dispenser is slow after a filter change, you may need to clear an air lock in the water line.

Not sure which filter your Jenn-Air takes? Use the Fridge Filter Finder to match your exact model to the right replacement.
Yes, JennAir refrigerators use EveryDrop water filters, the filter brand from Whirlpool. The specific EveryDrop number depends on your model: for example, the JennAir JFFCF72DKL uses Filter 4 (EDR4RXD1), while the JB36NXFXRE uses Filter 3 (EDR3RXD1). Check your manual, the old filter or the everydrop Filter Finder.
Yes, JennAir says a clogged filter can be left out so the water system runs in bypass mode until you install a new one. In bypass mode, the water reaching your dispenser and ice maker is not filtered. Install a replacement filter as soon as you have one.
JennAir says to run at least 1 to 4 gallons through a new water filter, depending on the filter, after dispensing 5 seconds on and 5 seconds off until flow is steady. The exact amount for your filter is on its packaging. Without a dispenser, make and discard 3 containers of ice instead.
On a JennAir freestanding ice maker, the water filter compartment is to the right of the controls, and you use a filter wrench to change it. JennAir recommends replacing the ice maker filter every six months or when the "Replace Water Filter" light comes on.
No, unused EveryDrop water filters for JennAir refrigerators don't expire, according to JennAir. A spare filter kept in its packaging can be installed whenever you need it. Once installed, replace it every six months or 200 gallons, or when the filter indicator comes on.
