The Pentek RFC-20 has a nominal micron rating of 25 microns. It combines radial flow granular activated carbon (GAC) with sediment filtration, making it effective for reducing chlorine taste and odor while also capturing dirt, rust, and sediment particles down to 25 microns in whole house applications.

The Pentek RFC-20 is rated for approximately 20,000 gallons or up to 6 months of service life, whichever comes first. Actual filter life will depend on your household water usage, incoming water quality, and sediment load. For heavy sediment or chlorine conditions, replacement may be needed closer to the 3–4 month mark.

The Pentek RFC-20 is a Big Blue-style cartridge measuring 20" in length with an outer diameter of 4.5". It is designed to fit standard 20" x 4.5" Big Blue whole house filter housings, including Pentek, Pentair, and other compatible housings of the same dimensions. It is not compatible with standard 10" or slim-line housings.

The Pentek RFC-20 is manufactured from components that meet NSF/ANSI Standard 42 requirements for material safety and chlorine taste and odor reduction. The radial flow carbon design minimizes pressure drop while maximizing contact time with the granular activated carbon media for effective chlorine reduction throughout the filter's service life.

The Pentek RFC-20 uses a radial flow GAC design to reduce chlorine taste and odor, along with sediment, dirt, silt, sand, and rust particles down to 25 microns.
