The Aries AF-10-2010 is a 10-inch standard-size replacement cartridge that combines Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) with KDF-55 media in a dual-media configuration. The GAC reduces chlorine, bad tastes, and odors, while the KDF-55 (a high-purity copper-zinc formulation) controls bacterial growth within the filter bed and extends the life of the carbon by reducing chlorine before it reaches the GAC. This combination makes the AF-10-2010 especially effective for chlorinated municipal water supplies.

The Aries AF-10-2010 cartridge has a nominal 20-micron rating, making it suitable for reducing larger sediment particles along with chlorine taste and odor. It is rated for a maximum flow rate of approximately 4 GPM and operates within a temperature range of 40°F–100°F and pressure range of 20–125 psi. Its standard 2.5" x 9.75" dimensions allow it to fit most 10-inch standard Big Blue-style and clear housing systems.

The Aries AF-10-2010 GAC/KDF cartridge is typically rated for up to 15,000 gallons or approximately 6 months of use, whichever comes first. Actual lifespan depends on your incoming water quality, chlorine concentration, and daily usage. Households with high chlorine levels or heavy water consumption should inspect the cartridge more frequently and replace it sooner if taste, odor, or flow rate changes are noticed.

The Aries AF-10-2010 is manufactured using components tested to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for aesthetic effects, specifically chlorine, taste, and odor reduction. The integrated KDF-55 media also helps inhibit the growth of algae, bacteria, fungi, and mold inside the filter housing, while reducing water-soluble heavy metals such as lead and mercury through redox (oxidation-reduction) reactions. It is intended for potable cold-water applications only.

Installation is straightforward: shut off the water supply, depressurize the housing, remove the old cartridge, and insert the AF-10-2010 with the open end facing up (for standard double open-end housings). Lubricate the housing O-ring with food-grade silicone grease, hand-tighten the sump, and slowly restore water flow. Flush the new cartridge for 5–10 minutes to rinse out carbon fines before use. For best performance, replace every 6 months or at 15,000 gallons.
