The FXWTC GE Smart Water water filter 2-pack fits GE Smart Water household water filtration systems. This GE FXWTC Revision 2 model also fits any other brand of water filter housing that uses 9 3/4 inch x 2 1/2 inch filter cartridges. If you're currently using the FXWSC or FXWPC water filter, it might be best to switch to the FXUSC since it removes more impurities from your home's water.
The GE SmartWater FXWTC is a 5-micron carbon-wrapped sediment filter. This rating allows it to effectively capture fine sediment, sand, silt, rust, and dirt particles while the carbon layer reduces chlorine taste and odor from your household water supply. The 5-micron rating strikes a balance between thorough filtration and maintaining strong water flow throughout your whole house plumbing system.
How long does the GE FXWTC filter last and when should I replace it?The GE SmartWater FXWTC whole house filter has a service life of approximately 3 months or 15,000 gallons, whichever comes first. Since this 2-pack provides two filters, you'll have roughly 6 months of filtration coverage. Replacement intervals may be shorter if you have high sediment levels, well water, or heavy household water usage. Monitor water pressure and taste as indicators that replacement is needed.
Which GE housings and whole house systems is the FXWTC compatible with? The GE SmartWater FXWTC is designed to fit GE whole house filtration systems including the GXWH04F, GXWH20F, GXWH20S, GXWH35F, and GNWH38S housings. It uses standard 9-3/4" x 2-1/2" dimensions, making it compatible with most standard-sized universal whole house filter housings as well. Always confirm your housing dimensions before installation.
Is the GE FXWTC filter NSF/ANSI certified? The GE SmartWater FXWTC is tested to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction of chlorine taste and odor, as well as sediment reduction. This certification confirms the filter's ability to improve the aesthetic quality of your water throughout your entire home, delivering cleaner, better-tasting water to every faucet, shower, and appliance connected to your main water line.
What contaminants does the GE SmartWater FXWTC remove from whole house water? The FXWTC combines mechanical sediment filtration with activated carbon to reduce sand, silt, sediment, rust particles, chlorine taste, and unpleasant odors from your incoming water supply. Because it installs at the point of entry, every tap in your home benefits from reduced chlorine and sediment. Note that this filter is not designed to remove lead, heavy metals, or microbiological contaminants.
