The American Plumber W30W is a 30-micron pleated cellulose sediment cartridge designed to reduce dirt, sand, silt, rust, and scale particles from your whole house water supply. It has a filtration capacity of approximately 30,000 gallons or should be replaced every 3 months, whichever comes first, depending on your household water usage and incoming sediment levels.

The W30W measures 9-3/4" in length and 2-1/2" in diameter, making it compatible with standard 10-inch whole house filter housings, including American Plumber W10, W34, WLCS-1000, and most other Big Blue-style slim housings. Always verify your housing dimensions before purchase to ensure a proper fit.

The W30W is a dedicated sediment filter — it is engineered specifically to capture particulate matter down to 30 microns. It does not reduce chlorine, taste, odor, or chemical contaminants. For chlorine and taste/odor reduction, pair the W30W with a carbon cartridge such as the American Plumber W10-PR in a dual-stage system.

The American Plumber W30W is manufactured to meet NSF/ANSI 42 material safety standards for mechanical sediment reduction. Its pleated cellulose media provides a large surface area for extended filter life and improved dirt-holding capacity compared to standard spun or melt-blown cartridges of the same micron rating.

Before installing the W30W, shut off the main water supply and relieve pressure by opening a downstream faucet. Unscrew the filter housing, remove the old cartridge, and insert the W30W with the open end facing up (or per your housing's orientation). Lubricate the housing O-ring with food-grade silicone, reassemble, and slowly turn the water back on. Replace every 3 months or sooner if you notice reduced water pressure throughout your home.
