Chloramine is the by-product of Chloramination, the process of disinfecting drinking water with a chlorine and ammonia blend. Chloramine kills germs, making the water safer to drink. Today, chloramine and chlorine are the most common disinfectants used in public water systems. Chloramine is actually weaker than chlorine but is approximately 10 times more difficult to remove. How does the Precision Series WH-CHLRM-RED-1054 help?
The Precision Series WH-CHLRM-RED-948 utilizes Catalytic Carbon media to reduce chloramines. Standard Activated Carbon is ideal for reducing chlorine, and while it may reduce a small percentage of chloramine, the media of choice is Catalytic Carbon. Catalytic Carbon is Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) that has undergone electronic structure modification, thus allowing it to effectively reduce chloramine without being altered by the chemical.
