The AP430SS uses the AP431 replacement cartridge, which has a service life of approximately 100,000 gallons or 6 months, whichever comes first. Actual cartridge life depends on your water hardness level and household water usage. For homes with very hard water or high daily consumption, you may need to replace the AP431 cartridge more frequently to ensure continuous scale protection for your water heater.

The Aqua-Pure AP430SS features a stainless steel housing built for durability and is rated for a maximum flow rate of 20 gallons per minute (GPM), making it suitable for whole-house applications. It operates within a pressure range of 25–125 psi and a temperature range of 40°F–100°F. The system uses 1" NPT inlet/outlet connections and is designed exclusively for cold-water installation on the line feeding your water heater.

The AP430SS scale inhibitor system uses FDA-approved, food-grade polyphosphate that complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for drinking water additive safety. It is important to note that the AP430SS is a scale inhibitor, not a water softener — it does not remove hardness minerals from the water. Instead, it chemically sequesters them to prevent scale formation, so you won't notice the "slippery" feel associated with softened water, but your water heater will be protected from scale damage.

The Aqua-Pure AP430SS must be installed on the cold water line directly before your water heater (tank or tankless). Do not install it on the hot water side, as the polyphosphate media is designed for cold-water contact only.
