Instructions

  1. Bacteria Test Instructions: Fill vial with water to 5 ml line. Carefully add the the bacterial growth powder. Cap tightly. Shake vial for 20 secs. Place in a warm area (70-90 F) undisturbed. After 48 hrs, leave capped and observe the color of the liquid
  2. Purple Color = Negative Result Yellow Color = Positive Result; For positive results, add bleach to the sample before pouring down the toilet, then wash hands carefully. Negative samples may be poured directly into the toilet. Discard vial
  3. Lead / Pesticide Test can detect dissolved lead at levels below the EPA Action level of 15 parts per billion. The test detects two of the most common pesticides at or below the EPA Maximum Contaminant Level (atrazine - 3 ppb, and simazine - 4 ppb)
  4. 1. Open Lead / Pesticide packet and take out all contents. 2. Place exactly 2 dropper-fuls of water sample into vial. 3. Swirl vial for 20 secs. 4. Put both test strips into the test vial, arrows pointing DOWN. 5. Leave undisturbed for 10 minutes
  5. 2. Read Results with arrows pointing to the LEFT. Negative: The LEFT line (next to 1) is darker. Positive: The RIGHT line (next to 2) is darker or lines are equally dark. If positive, your water sample may contain lead or pesticides at a toxic level
  6. Nitrate / Nitrite Test Instructions: Immerse the reagent pads into water sample for 2 seconds, remove, after 1 minute match colors with the chart. Colors are stable for 1 minute. Total Nitrate/Nitrite (end pad) Nitrite (pad nearest handle)
  7. Copper Test Instructions: Dip the test strip into the sample for 30 seconds, waving in a gentle back and forth motion. Remove the strip and shake once to remove excess water. Wait 2 minutes then match result to the color chart included
  8. Iron Test Instructions: Dip the test strip into the sample for 5 seconds, waving in a gentle back and forth motion. Remove the strip and shake once to remove excess water. Wait 2 minutes then match result to the color chart in the instruction manual
  9. pH/Hardness/Chlorine Test Instructions: Immerse the reagent pads into the water sample and remove immediately. Hold the strip level for 15 seconds. Match pH, Total Hardness and Total Chlorine Pads (in that order) to the color chart
