Nearly all refrigerators will automatically shut the water off while the filter is out.
Most Refrigerators
- Twist the old filter a quarter or half-turn counterclockwise
- Pull the filter straight out and discard
- Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops
- Twist the filter a quarter or half-turn clockwise
Frigidaire PureSource & PureSourcePlus - Only
- Unscrew the filter cup and dump out the water
- Pull the old filter straight down and discard
- Place the new filter in the filter cup
- The end of the filter with the small o-ring should be up
- Screw the filter cup (with filter) up onto the housing
- The filter will self-align as the cup is tightened
Frigidaire PureSource2 - Only
- Press the button to the right of the filter to release it
- Pull the old filter straight out and discard
- Push the new filter straight in until it "clicks" into place
Whirlpool & KitchenAid Base-Grille "Push Button" - Only
- Press the button to the left of the filter to release it
- Pull the filter straight out, and remove the reusable color-keyed cap from the end
- Discard the old filter
- Twist the cap onto the end of the new filter
- Push the new filter straight in until it "clicks" into place
Common Installation Mistakes
- Remember to remove any protective caps from your new filter before installation
- Don't throw away your reusable knob (base-grille filters only)
- Remember to dispense 2-3 gallons of water to flush your new filter, and remember to reset your filter change indicator light
