Installing Whirlpool Refrigerator Filters

Number: EDR7D2, EDR7D1 and EDR8D1

1. DO NOT use any tools to install this filter.
2. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise.
3. Pull the filter straight down and discard (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically).
4. Push the new filter up into the fridge until it stops.
5. Twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise.
6. Reset your change filter light (if your fridge has one).
7. Flush filter with 3-4 gallons of with water until water runs clear. Some noise is not uncommon as air is purged from the system.

Note: Filter must be pushed firmly into receiver and turned until locked in place. If filter is not locked correctly, water will not flow.

Number: EDR5RXD1 and EDR5RXD2

1. DO NOT use any tools to install this filter.
2. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise.
3. Pull the filter straight down and discard (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically).
4. Remove the reusable color-keyed knob from the end.
5. Discard the old filter.
6. Slide the knob onto the end of the new filter.
7. Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops and twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise, and reset your change filter light (if your fridge has one).
8. Flush filter with 3-4 gallons of with water until water runs clear. Some noise is not uncommon as air is purged from the system.
9. If filter sets for several days without use, flush a quart of water through the filter to remove stale water from refrigerator water lines.

3. Pull the filter straight out and discard (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically).
4. Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops, twist the filter a quarter-turn clockwise.
5. Swing the plastic filter cover up until it snaps closed.
6. Reset your change filter light (if your fridge has one).
7. Flush filter with 3-4 gallons of with water until water runs clear. Some noise is not uncommon as air is purged from the system.
8. If filter sits for several days without use, flush a quart of water through the filter to remove stale water from refrigerator water line.

2. Unlatch the plastic filter cover, and let it swing up (so you can see the filter).
3. Pull the filter straight out (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically).
4. Remove the reusable color-keyed cap from the end.
5. Discard the old filter.
6. Twist the cap onto the end of the new filter.
7. Push the new filter straight in.
8. Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one).

1. Press the button to the left of the filter to release it.
2. Pull the filter straight out (don't worry, the water will shut off automatically).

5. Twist the cap onto the end of the new filter.
6. Push the new filter straight in until it "clicks" into place.
7. Reset your "change filter" light (if your fridge has one).

1. Remove the new air filter from its packaging.
2. Locate and lift open the vented door along the rear interior wall at the top of the refrigerator compartment.
3. Remove the old air filter by squeezing in on the side tabs.
4. The new air filter should snap easily into place with the depressable tabs facing you and then close the vent door.

How to reset the change filter light:

Apply pressure to the bubble on the back of the indicator, until the bubble pops to activate the indicator light. Check that the indicator is visible and you can see when it is time to replace the filter. If not, be sure to remove the old filter status indicator and install the new status indicator in a visible place within the refrigerator (if your fridge has notched inside the vent door you can use those for the indicator light). If your refrigerator model has a built-in air filter status light you will not need the disposable status indicator provided with the air filter. To activate the status indicator place the indicator face down on a firm, flat surface.
