The 30001 New Wave Enviro Premium 10-Stage Cartridge comes with 10 stages of protection against major water contaminants. Stage 1 traps larger solids such as rust. Stage 2 removes free chlorine and some heavy metals. Stage 3 removes smaller floating solids and separates the layers, preserving their integrity. Stage 4 reduces bad odors, color, and organic contaminants. Stage 5 utilizes a felt pad for fine sediment removal and Stage 6 uses ion exchange resin which removes lead. Stage 7 provides an extra buffer against floating sediment of any kind. Stage 8 provides extra protection against cancer-causing organic pollutants. Stage 9 calcite raises the water's pH and lowers acidity. The last stage screens out cysts and protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), and gives filtered water a sparkling clarity.
