Iron and Manganese Reducing Replacement Water Filter by Tier1

The Tier1 Iron and Manganese Reducing Replacement Water Filter is specifically engineered to reduce iron and manganese from your whole-house water supply, which are the primary culprits behind rust-colored stains on fixtures, laundry, and plumbing, as well as metallic-tasting water. This 5-micron rated filter also helps reduce sediment, dirt, and rust particles, delivering cleaner water throughout your home. It is an ideal solution for households on well water or municipal supplies with elevated iron and manganese levels.

This Tier1 Iron and Manganese Reducing Replacement Filter has an estimated service life of approximately 3 months or up to 15,000 gallons, depending on your water quality and household usage. Homes with heavier iron/manganese concentrations may need more frequent replacements. The filter supports a maximum flow rate of 5 GPM (gallons per minute), ensuring strong, consistent water pressure throughout your home while actively reducing contaminants.

This Tier1 replacement cartridge is designed with standard 4.5" x 10" Big Blue dimensions, making it compatible with most standard whole-house filter housings of the same size, including Tier1 Whole House Big Blue systems and other comparable housings. Always verify your housing's inner dimensions before purchase to ensure a proper fit. Its universal sizing makes it a convenient replacement option for homeowners looking to target iron and manganese issues at the point of entry.

The Tier1 Iron and Manganese Reducing Filter features a 5-micron rating and utilizes a specialized manganese dioxide-based filtration media that oxidizes dissolved iron and manganese, converting them into filterable particles that are then trapped within the cartridge. This dual-action process effectively removes both dissolved and particulate forms of these metals, helping prevent staining, scale buildup, and unpleasant tastes or odors in your household water.

Installation is straightforward: shut off the water supply to your whole-house filter housing, depressurize the system, unscrew the housing sump, remove the old cartridge, and insert the new Tier1 Iron and Manganese Reducing Filter. Reassemble the housing, slowly turn the water back on, and flush the system for 5–10 minutes to clear any loose media. For optimal performance, replace the filter every 3 months or sooner if you notice reduced flow or returning staining issues. Regular replacement ensures consistent iron and manganese reduction and protects your plumbing and appliances.
