The Pentek BP-420-25 measures approximately 7 inches in diameter by 32 inches in length, classifying it as a Size #2 bag filter. It is engineered to fit Pentek BBH-420 and BBH-520 bag filter housings, as well as other standard Size #2 bag filter vessels. Its polypropylene felt construction with a sewn seam and a polypropylene ring ensures a secure seal inside compatible housings for efficient bypass-free filtration.

The service life of the Pentek BP-420-25 depends on the incoming water quality and flow rate, but it is typically replaced every 1 to 3 months or when a noticeable pressure drop of 15 PSI or more occurs across the housing. With a maximum flow rate of up to 40 GPM, the BP-420-25 offers a significantly higher dirt-holding capacity than standard cartridge filters, extending service intervals in high-sediment applications.

The Pentek BP-420-25 is specifically designed to reduce suspended solids such as sand, silt, sediment, rust flakes, and scale particles 25 microns and larger. Its polypropylene felt media is chemically resistant and compatible with a wide pH range (1–13), making it suitable for filtering water, compatible chemicals, and process fluids. Note that this bag filter does not remove chlorine, taste, odor, or dissolved contaminants — for those, pair it with a carbon filter downstream.

The Pentek BP-420-25 polypropylene bag filter is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 200°F (93°C) and a maximum differential pressure of 40 PSID. These specifications make it well-suited for demanding industrial and commercial filtration systems. For optimal performance and filter longevity, Pentek recommends changing the BP-420-25 once the pressure differential reaches 15–25 PSID to prevent bag rupture and maintain consistent filtration quality.
