    • Prevents Corrosion - protects piping, pressure tanks, water heaters, and fixtures from acid damage
    • Keeps Injection Points Clean - helps maintain smooth operation by reducing buildup and clogging
    • Improves Water Quality - balances pH for healthier, better-tasting water throughout your system

    Usage Instructions

    • Acid Water Neutralization - inject solution into your water line following standard soda ash feed procedures; adjust dosage until treated water pH is between 7.0 and 8.0
    • Tannin Water Softener Maintenance - mix 1 cup Neutra-7 with 1 quart water and pour into the salt tank weekly to maintain resin performance
    • Feed Rate - depends on water acidity; always test pH to ensure optimal results
    • Packaging - available in an economical 40-lb pail for ongoing treatment needs
    • Note - not for use before a reverse osmosis membrane or iron filter system

The Pro Products SP40N Neutra 7 Acid Water Neutralizer is a granular calcite medium used to raise the pH of acidic (low-pH) well water. Supplied in a 40-pound pail, this is the professional-volume option for residential neutralizer tanks that require regular media replenishment to maintain effective pH correction.

    The Problem: Acidic Well Water

Well water with a pH below 7.0 is considered acidic. Acidic water is corrosive -- it attacks copper pipes and brass fittings over time, causing pinhole leaks, blue-green staining on sinks and tubs, and elevated copper or lead levels in the water as plumbing materials dissolve. It can also produce a metallic or sour taste. Acid neutralization is one of the most important and often overlooked treatments for well water systems.

    How the SP40N Works

Neutra 7 calcite dissolves slowly as acidic water passes through a neutralizer tank loaded with the medium. As the calcite dissolves, it releases calcium carbonate, which reacts with the acidic water to raise the pH toward neutral (7.0) or slightly above. The calcite dissolves and is consumed over time, which is why periodic media replenishment is necessary.

    Key Specifications

    Specification Detail
    Media Type Calcite (calcium carbonate)
    Container Size 40 lbs
Application Acid neutralizer tank / upflow or downflow
Target Parameter pH correction (low pH / acidic water)
Effective pH Range Raises pH from below 7.0 toward neutral
Hardness Impact Treated water hardness increases slightly

    Hardness Consideration

Because calcite is a calcium compound, neutralizing acidic water with SP40N will add a small amount of hardness to the treated water. In areas where water is already moderately hard, pairing the neutralizer with a downstream water softener may be appropriate. In areas with naturally soft water, the calcite-added hardness is typically minimal and not a concern.

    Replenishment

The rate at which calcite is consumed depends on the pH of the source water and the volume of water treated. Systems with more acidic water consume medium faster. Tanks should be inspected periodically and media replenished before the tank runs empty, as an empty neutralizer tank will allow untreated acidic water to pass through.

    Compatible Equipment

Standard residential acid neutralizer tanks in upflow or downflow configurations. Compatible with any calcite neutralizer tank designed for granular media. The 40-pound pail is sized to fill or significantly top off most residential neutralizer tanks.
