The FXSVC GE Smart Water filter is a dual-stage under-sink filter that comes with one sediment pre-filter and one carbon block post-filter. The grey capped filter should be the first stage of filtration, accepting the in-flow of water to the system, followed by the green capped post-filter, as the second stage of filtration. The GE FXSVC is compatible with any brand of water filtration system that uses 9 3/4 inch x 2 1/2 inch filters.
The GE SmartWater FXSVC Undersink Water Filter Set is a genuine GE replacement kit designed for GE SmartWater dual-stage undersink filtration systems (such as the GXSV10C and GNSV70FBL). The set includes two filters: the FXSVC pre-filter (sediment) and the FXSVC post-filter (carbon block). Together, they provide comprehensive sediment and chemical reduction for your home's drinking water supply.
What contaminants does the GE FXSVC filter set reduce? The GE FXSVC filter set is specifically engineered to reduce sediment, rust, sand, silt, chlorine taste and odor, and select volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from your undersink water supply. The sediment pre-filter captures larger particulates, while the carbon block post-filter polishes the water by reducing chlorine and improving taste, delivering cleaner, fresher-tasting water directly from your tap.
What is the micron rating and filter life of the GE FXSVC?The GE SmartWater FXSVC features a 5-micron nominal filtration rating, effectively capturing fine sediment and particulates. The filter set has a rated capacity of approximately 750 gallons, or a service life of 6 months under typical household usage—whichever comes first. For homes with heavy usage or poor incoming water quality, replacement may be needed sooner to maintain optimal flow and filtration performance.
Is the GE FXSVC filter set NSF/ANSI certified?Yes, the GE SmartWater FXSVC filter set is tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for aesthetic effects, including chlorine taste and odor reduction, as well as particulate (sediment) reduction. This certification ensures the FXSVC meets strict industry standards for material safety and performance, giving you confidence in the quality of your filtered drinking water.
How do I install and replace the GE SmartWater FXSVC filter set?Replacing the GE FXSVC filter set is simple and tool-free. First, turn off the water supply to the undersink unit and relieve system pressure by opening the dispenser faucet. Twist the old FXSVC filters counterclockwise to remove them from the GE SmartWater manifold, then insert the new FXSVC pre-filter and post-filter into their matching ports and twist clockwise until snug. Turn the water supply back on, flush the system for 3–5 minutes to remove air and carbon fines, and your FXSVC set is ready to deliver clean, filtered water.
