Berkey® Systems are powerful, freestanding water filtration systems designed for daily use. They sit conveniently on a countertop or stand and require no electricity, tools, or plumbing. Simply pour water into the upper chamber and dispense filtered water from the lower chamber through a handy spigot. Each Berkey® System includes Black Berkey® Filtration Elements, designed to reduce a wide range of potential contaminants such as certain heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, VOCs, and other common substances that may be found in tap water. Each pair of Black Berkey® Elements can treat up to 6,000 gallons (or about 5 years of typical use) before replacement is recommended.

In independent laboratory testing, these filtration elements have also been shown to reduce red food coloring — a commonly used indicator for certain types of chemical filtration. For ongoing performance, genuine Berkey® BB9-2 replacement elements are available and compatible with most gravity-fed filtration systems.
