The Tier1 P10-20BB is a 10-micron spun polypropylene sediment filter designed for big blue (BB) 20-inch whole house housings. Its 10-micron rating effectively captures sand, silt, rust flakes, dirt, and other suspended particles from your incoming water supply, while still maintaining strong flow rates for whole-home use. The graded density construction traps larger particles on the outer layers and finer particles closer to the core for longer filter life.

The Tier1 P10-20BB sediment filter is rated for up to 3 months of typical household use, though actual life depends on incoming water quality and usage volume. Homes on well water or with heavy sediment loads may need to replace the filter more frequently, while homes on municipal water with low turbidity may see longer performance. For best results, replace the P10-20BB when you notice a drop in water pressure or visible discoloration of the cartridge.

The Tier1 P10-20BB is built to the industry-standard 20" x 4.5" Big Blue dimensions, making it a direct replacement for the Hydronix SDC-45-2010 and compatible with most 20-inch Big Blue whole house filter housings, including Pentek, Culligan, American Plumber, and similar systems. Always confirm your housing’s inner dimensions (approximately 20 inches long and 4.5 inches in diameter) before installation to ensure a proper fit and seal.

The Tier1 P10-20BB is manufactured from 100% pure polypropylene tested against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for materials safety, meaning the filter media will not leach harmful contaminants into your water. It is FDA-compliant and safe for use in potable (drinking) water applications as a pre-filter. For chemical, chlorine, or lead reduction, pair the P10-20BB with a carbon block post-filter in a multi-stage whole house system.

The Tier1 P10-20BB supports a maximum flow rate of up to 8 GPM, making it well suited for whole house sediment pre-filtration. It operates within a temperature range of 40°F to 125°F (4.4°C to 51.7°C) and a pressure range of 20 to 80 psi.
