The ultraviolet lamp sleeve is a protective barrier between your water and the UV lamp. The Sleeve however can become cloudy or covered in mineral debris that can impact the performance of your UV system, for this reason the sleeve should be cleaned every few months to ensure best performance. Quartz sleeves can be cleaned and reused, but if your quartz sleeve cracks, breaks, or the becomes permanently cloudy and can not be cleaned it needs to be replaced.
