20 x 4.5 Inch Sediment Filters
Sediment filters are the first stage of any whole house filtration setup. They capture dirt, rust, sand, silt, and other suspended particles before that debris reaches your fixtures, appliances, and downstream filters — protecting your plumbing and extending the life of everything connected to it.
This collection covers 20 x 4.5 inch Big Blue sediment cartridges, the large-format standard for whole house systems that need higher flow rates and longer filter life between changes.
Micron ratings available range from 1 to 50 microns — lower numbers capture finer particles but may need more frequent replacement in high-sediment water. A common approach is to stage filtration: a 20–50 micron pre-filter catches coarse debris first, followed by a 1–5 micron stage for finer particles.
Our most popular cartridges include the Pentek DGD-5005 (dual-gradient polypropylene, 50–5 micron) and the Pentek DGD-2501 (dual-gradient, 25–1 micron) — both widely trusted in residential whole house systems. We also carry Tier1 comparable replacements and the 3M Aqua-Pure AP810-2 for compatible housings.
